Water Sampling Event
On October 9th, the Watershed District, along with Minnesota Pollution Control Agency biologists and Lac qui Parle Soil & Water Conservation District staff, welcomed 10th grade biology students from Dawson - Boyd High School for a fun event learning about water sampling and water quality. Topics included water quality impairments, current impairments in the Watershed, the processes of monitoring and assessing the Watershed for impairments, and how chemical and biological monitoring samples are acquired. Samples of macroinvertebrates and fish were available to look at and the MPCA biologists gave a live demonstration of how they shock a river to sample fish.
